From the European Swimming Championships to swimming at Grenelle, Paris Plages, and Rock en Seine, this month offers plenty of opportunities to experience the capital in a new light. From August 4 to 8, Europe’s top swimmers will compete around Île aux Cygnes. The program includes 5- and 10-kilometer open-water races, a 3-kilometer elimination race, and a mixed relay.

Swimming is open free of charge through August 30, 2026. However, it will be closed from August 1 through August 9 due to the European Championships, before reopening to the public on August 10.
The swimming area, which was expanded this year, is now nearly the size of an Olympic-sized pool. Access is restricted to people who can swim and are at least 1.20 meters tall. Minors under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

From July 4 to August 30, 2026, Paris Plages will transform several locations throughout the capital into free spaces for relaxation and recreation.
In the Rives de Seine Park, between the Tuileries Tunnel and the Sully Bridge, lounge chairs, pétanque courts, and sports activities line the riverbanks. The Bassin de la Villette offers a livelier atmosphere, with swimming, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, and activities for children.
A day at Paris Plages can easily be combined with a stroll through the historic center. After a few hours by the water, simply continue on to City Hall, the Marais, the Louvre, or the Tuileries Garden.
Closer to the hotel, the Grenelle quays and André-Citroën Park offer a quieter alternative. Their walking paths and lawns are especially pleasant in the late afternoon, when the temperature starts to cool off.

Through August 16, the La Villette outdoor movie theater is hosting its 35th edition on the Prairie du Triangle. Family screenings are held at 6 p.m., followed by screenings at 9 p.m. from Wednesday through Sunday.

At the Parc Floral, the Classique au Vert festival continues through early September. Several concerts are scheduled for August, including a performance by the Ensemble Diderot on August 16, the Opus13 String Quartet on August 22, and pianist Vanessa Wagner on August 30.
Starting August 28, Jazz à la Villette will take center stage at the Grande Halle, the Cité de la Musique, and the Philharmonie de Paris. The festival kicks off with Snarky Puppy and the Metropole Orkest, followed by several days dedicated to various forms of contemporary jazz.
Rock en Seine, a major late-summer music festival, returns to the Domaine national de Saint-Cloud from August 26 to 30, 2026.
The lineup features several major artists from the international music scene. Tyler, The Creator kicks off the festival on Wednesday, followed by Lorde on Thursday. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Black Keys, Franz Ferdinand, and Wet Leg are on the bill for Friday. Deftones perform on Saturday, followed by a final day headlined by The Cure, Interpol, Mogwai, and Slowdive.
From the Esteem Tour Eiffel, the trip is particularly easy. Line 10 runs directly from the Charles Michels station to Boulogne–Pont de Saint-Cloud, one of the recommended stations for getting to the festival.
